Can You Ship Knives Internationally?
Sometimes, but never assume the answer is yes.
Knives are a sensitive shipping category because the rules depend on the exact item, origin, destination, courier policy and local law. A standard kitchen knife, a multi-tool, a collector’s item and a prohibited weapon are not treated the same way.
The safest approach is to check before buying or booking.
Why knives are sensitive
Knives can create issues because of:
- carrier restrictions
- customs scrutiny
- destination-country import rules
- age or ownership requirements
- differences between kitchen, utility, sporting and weapon-related items
- packaging and safety requirements
Even when a knife is sold legally by a reputable retailer, that does not automatically mean it can be shipped internationally.
The product type matters
A kitchen knife may be assessed very differently from a flick knife, hunting knife, sword, machete, combat-style blade or multi-tool. Some items may be restricted, some may require specific checks, and some may be prohibited entirely on certain routes.
The right question is not “can knives be shipped?” It is “can this exact item be shipped on this exact route using an available courier service?”
What to check before ordering
Before buying any knife for international forwarding or courier shipment, check:
- the exact product type and blade description
- whether the retailer can legally sell it for your intended use
- whether the destination country allows import
- whether the courier can carry that item
- whether documentation, age checks or permits may apply
- whether the item appears on Jetkrate’s prohibited or restricted list
Do not buy first and ask later
This is not a category where guesswork is worth it. If the item cannot be shipped, you may face delays, storage issues, return costs, seizure, disposal or refusal by the carrier.
Check first, especially for anything beyond ordinary kitchen use.
Where Jetkrate fits
Jetkrate can help explain the forwarding or courier process, but it cannot guarantee acceptance of every knife or blade-related item. The product, route and rules all matter.
If the item is sensitive, contact support before purchasing or booking.
What to keep in mind
Some knives may be shippable internationally, but knives are not a simple everyday category. Confirm the exact item and route before buying. If there is any doubt, ask first.
